They were not lying. It is BIG!

So the big water has begun. I got the chance to run it a week or so ago. I was told that it would be running around 45,000 CFS when we hit the canyon. Well we caught the bubble and it turned into 66,000 CFS. Waves that are normally 10 to 15 feet tall like the ledge wave actually were 40 feet tall. I had three passengers whom decided to jump onto the S-rig just before the big rapids so it was myself and another guide whom is getting trained on 5 day cats through the big drops. We ended up having the best run I have ever had through the canyon. I am sure next trip I will end up in the drink, time will tell. We had a private group following for safety and to know the lines We got to see their gear boat a 13 1/2 row rig flip in big drop 2 a paddle raft go right into the meat of the gut and some how float out like nothing ever happened. One maned Cataraft lost the oars men but he got back on just in time to watch the gut go right by him. Then a one maned Dorey grease the big drops. Side note I am a nervous pee'er. never have I nervous pooed I pooed twice the morning before we hit the rapids.
P.S. this pic dosen't do the water level justice I will try and post a video of what is actually like.

Let the perma pucker begin.

So for the last few days there has been an interp program being put on for all of the guides in Moab. Today was the session with T Barry the river ranger about how saftey is going to be run in the canyon this season. Then I heard that cataract canyon is going to jump up to 50,000 CFS near the 23 of may and that will be the minimum flow for the entire month of june. I was then informed that if there is a row rig that I am the one rowing it and at that point my stomach turned.
