Well Lets see. the preccedings since last I wrote. There have been many good ones. Life for me right now consists mostly of work i.e. framing houses and yes I frame through the winter time. School takes a good chunck of my time. I live in downtown SLC, literally right behind the capitol. I do alot of commuting by bicycle which if you know the area is pretty sweet due to the numerous steep hills.
As for the rest of my life well that consists of play. Since I wrote last I have been doing alot of the weekend warrior style adventures such as day trips up the canyon with roomates to climb. Bouldering after work with a few of my coworkers. Thought it has been six months since I have really climbed hard I have felt relatively strong on the rock. Now that the rivers have stopped flowing the weather cooling it is time to to go vertical again. I have been doing alot of mountain biking in an attempt to strengthen my legs. trips up the quarry trail in little cottonwood canyon. After spending a day biking up little cottonwood doing roughly 10 miles and climbing. I woke up sunday morning with the itch to "GO!" I jumped into my 1995 green hatchback subaru impreza with my camel back, climbing shoes, some granola bars, and some good tunes. With the intent to do some scouting of the North Face of Olympus a route that I had been trying to get my roomate into climbing with me. A 1500 foot cliff rating out at a 5.5. Not sure even where to park I took off. Finding the trailhead with ease I through on my pack and went. It took me half an hour to forty-five minutes to get to the base of the climb. Feeling relatively confident up I went. Not really sure of the line which really dosen't matter. It took me about an hour to gain the ridge after fifteen pitches. The most amazing feeling to look around and see how high and how solitary it is. While on the face I stopped at a ledge and pulled out a granola bar and just listened. What an amazing time and place. After gaining the ridge I went for the summit this was the crux of the entire adventure. Traversing the rugged ridge line and route finding. After a while on the ridge I dropped in to the saddle. Which by the way has no trail that I could find. Alot of bush waking! Once in the saddle it wa time to climb again doing another five pitches or so and completing roughly 1900 vertical feet ropeless and alone I summited. After hanging out and enjoying for abit talking to a few of the hikers that were out that day and taking photos for them I headed down the many trail. slow going at first because of the steepness but once it leveled out enough that I could stay in control I ran the trail down to the trail head. From car to trail head with time on the summit it took me just under 5 hours. Then I had to bum a ride back to my car. Day three of my marathon of fun I went biking with some good friends and there father up near Park City. We went on about a 15m bike ride. My friends didn't enjoy it because of the fact that they were on down hill bikes and there was plenty of up hill. So we retired to the bike park. A type of riding I had never done before. Riding on logs and teeter totters and all of that good stuff. This appeased my friends. I even at one point gave one of there down hill bikes a try and took a 5 foot drop and greased it so I decided to go again. I had a great line pulled up my front tire at the perfect time but my back tire caught a small lip at the edge of the drop. My front tire came down really quick sending me head over heals down the hill. Unfased and unscathed it was quit the little ride.
The last few weekends I have been going to Idaho to vist and climb with some friends in poctatello. The first weekend Kori and Jo wanted to train for the pocatello pump so saturday morning we headed out to Rose Park and climbed our little hearts out. We spent the morning doing nothing under 5.10 going as hard as 12b. After tiring our it was time for some lunch and slacklining in the park. Bruno the hobbo was there and we talked to him for a while. then it was back off to the cliffs for mor punishment. Finishing out the day on some easier routes and doing laps we called it a day. Spent the night in the idaho falls area then home I went. The next weekend after work on friday met up with a girl I didn't really know to well named Angela whom by the end of the weekend we would be good friends. Anyways we went back to pocatello for the pocatello pump climbing compitition. No I didn't compete. I know that who ever reads this and knows me will as me why I didn't compete. Just accept that I have my reasons. I was there to see Kori and support her and all of her friends i.e. Jo, Marry, Tolman, Bridget, Tim, Correy, Craig and all those whom I may have left out. Thanks for a great weekend you guys I will be in touch for more climbing. Anyways everybody climbed well and had a great time just enjoying the comp.
This weekend I went back to the water. In ogden they have a race down the ogden river class 3 to 5. They open the dam and raise the water level for the day. So my buddies Carson, Smity, and i went up to check it out. The two of them joined the race. Smity was the first out of our group. I was standing on the wall river right right above the big meaty hole when smity in a old yaght of a boat that he had borrowed which was way to long for him got tossed right up above the hole. He dropped of upside down and got sucked out of his boat when the compression of the water pupped his sprayskirt off. He bloodied his hands a bit but he was all right. Yeah Smity!!!!! He is crazey by the way. Carson had a clean run no mishaps and took 20th place. I ran once before the race with a friend I hadn't seen in a year or so. Then carson and I ran it twice afterward. A very fun section which is said to be class 5 but I think it is more of a 4 or 4+. After that we met up with Scott Adams a crazy old fellow who bought us lunch and showed us around ogden a bit. His son is off at college so he has taken up living vicariously through my friends and I. Any ways that is life in a nut shell for one Marcus Alan Cline. Thanks for reading my drivel. Sorry for no pictures I haven't been able to find my charger for my camera so i haven't shot in a while.

Hi Marcus...it's jo. I'm glad you finally posted. I have a lot of time at work to check these things. I vote for more frequent but shorter posts...with pictures. You write good stories though. They sound very intense. See you this weekend!!
So buddy-ol' pal. . . I might be climbing mount Olympus too in a week! Sweet. I liked your description. .. I think we can all identify with the whole "itchy feet" thing. If we're all going to be up there for conference, maybe we could have a group lunch at your house between sessions. . .buffett style-- what do ya think?
